Even though this country was built by working people, the economy wasn’t built to support workers. Capitalism enables the billionaire class to commodify and steal the basic resources that belong to all – whether housing, healthcare, clean water, or education. It’s also empowered forces of racism, colonialism, and patriarchy, leaving much of the working class even further marginalized.
Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically–to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few.
